Just thought I'd share this. I added a USB powered fan to a "passive" moisture trap and ran a back to back test in my camper over the last 48 hours against a standard trap just to see if I was gaining anything.  As you can see the powered trap removed 208cc of water while the ambient only removed 13cc. The fanned trap has now been running 24/7 for the last 3 months, running off the on board USB supply (the camper is plugged into the home mains supply).  The fan came from Ebay, cost a less than £3 and was hot glued on. For my car I have a second trap running off a 10,000mAH power bank which will run for about 2 days and removes about the same amount of moisture, who'd have thought a Honda would leak that much!

Ta dah. Pictures I hope. And it's quiet enough to let it run while sleeping in the camper. Fan is 50mmx50mm £3.98 from Ebay. Dehumidifier was under £6.00 and the cheapest refill absorbent granules £2.50 for 2kg from Homebargains.

It's worth noting that damp air is lighter than dry. I used on of these, without a fan, on the floor of my camper and was very disappointed with the results. Had I put it high up the result may well have been better. The fan is clearly a great improvement.

Thanks, hadn’t thought about that (probably should have).
Normally just plonked the dehumidifier on the floor and left it running, I will remember in the future & put it as high as possible.

Dont get too obsessed with humidity in the home,70 % is fine, some people think it should be 50% but thats not natural and would need lots of heating and dehumidifying to keep it that low, parts of our house get damp in the winter so i put my Maeco DD8L dehumidifier on, its a desiccant dehumidifier so works well at low temperatures, i have a Faithfull humidity meter to check the levels ,only a fiver. For my wrapped up van i use large pieces of thin corrugated packing cardboard and on a sunny day take the cardboard out to dry then replace and cover the van up again.

Yes,I'm obsessed as in interested, not obsessed as in getting the lowest numbers. Relative humidity is, well relative... To the temperature. We have what's probably viewed as a cool house, so 70% is achievable and comfortable. If it were warmer in here, it'd be lower. It's made a huge difference to this house

I started to focus on humidity about 10 years ago with our local newspaper giving results for the previous day then i  clicked onto the BBC weather site and can now see todays and future days humidity predictions, the lowest i have seen in Jersey was 26% during a heatwave , at the moment its the opposite and very high peaking at 100% today, our house leaks air in so the house gets damp, having an airtight property would be easier for controlling humidity, higher outside temperatures can still have high humidity , its where the air is coming from for us.

Interesting, this is my first winter with a T25 Westy, and I noticed a lot of humidity in the van over the winter. Between 0-4 degrees, I was looking at 88% plus relative humidity; my windows freeze up on the inside and outside , and I noticed I have new black mold spots peppering the flocking of the pop top again after cleaning it all last summer. It makes me paranoid that it's leaking; it's definitely worse after the rain, but I can't find anything. I will try and replace the front door membranes when I can find some to see if that helps. It's interesting to see a modified humidity trap. I might try something like that.
