New van with oil leak

Post by Enya1990 »

Hey guys I'm new to this forum as me and my partner have just bought a 1990 T25 2.5 diesel starts perfectly and runs fine and bodywork is very good for its age. MOT is coming up in August and the bloke we got it off did mention there was an oil leak.I have taken some pictures not sure how good they are but I was hoping someone on here had an idea of what could be the cause. Thanks for reading guys ImageImageImageImage

The first thing you need to do is clean all the oil off it. That should give you a better idea of where the leak is.

Yeah I will do that, just worried it could be something serious

2.5 diesel?
The correct engine would help - unlikely to be a 2.5 lump. But the pics look odd to me so may well be an exotic conversion. Pics from the top also would help identifying it.
As above, a full degrease will enable you to identify the leak area.

Yeah I was thinking a 2.5 diesel is strange, that's what's on the logbook, I will get into the back of it and have a look from up top

Standard 1.6JX by the look of it. A 2.5 lump would be a lot bigger.
More than likely to be the rocker cover gasket going by the position of the trail of oil.
A good de-grease and hosing should make it easy to trace.
