Sloppy gear changes

Post by Tangoalpharomeo »

Hi all - just bought my first T25! 1980 X reg. air cooled petrol. Gear changing is pretty hard work and I keep getting 3rd instead of 1st. I’m told the gear linkage needs attention but a new kit isn’t available for this model (only for 1983 models onwards). Any thoughts and suggestions most welcome!

Try brickworks.

There should be a kit available I got one and it made a huge difference to the van.

My 2 cents are the bush the shifter rod goes through is worn giving the sloppy gear change.
