Rust prevention and curing
Waiting for drier weather to do the usual rust repairs in the usual places. I normally wire brush or sand the area before treating with Kurust then filling/painting over the area. Some paints are marked as apply directly to rust, so interested on thoughts as to using both kurust and this type of paint on same area would counter each other leading to it being innefective.

Kurust is only good for surface rust healthy dose of primer and red oxide before painting, wet rust needs chopping out and new metal putting in.
Filler should be avoided.
A healthy spray of all cavities and underside with diluted waxoyl (white spirit) is well worth it. Done my entire van last summer while doing an insulation mod (closed cell reflective foam and insulation roll made of recycled plastic).

Smooth Hammerite can be applied over rust converting products.

I use vactan, very good i find , its also a primer so don't sand it back once its on or rust will come back on thd bare metal. I use rustoleum combicolour on top to match body colour.

Vactan is pretty good if left alone.
The coating on vactan acts like a protective skin.
If you sand it off, it will allow rust again.
I have used neat phosphoric acid for a deeper or more successful rust conversion, as Kurust and Vactan are not as effective.
I apply a coat of etch primer over the Vactan or acid converted area.
And then apply hammerite / smoothrite or Rustoleum CombiColor as a top coat.
For best results, I brush on all layers of the chemicals / paints. It seems to give much better adhesion and coverage.
