Gear selection
Hi all, after leaving my van standing for a while i had difficulty getting in to 1st gear once or twice but then drove normally until it gave up completely. Stuck at a junction in neutral unable to get any gear at all. After about half hour and much cursing managed to get 1st and 2nd to get me home. Another half hour trying to get reverse to get on to the drive. Got a mate who diagnosed wear in the gear linkage bushes so I bought the rear refurb kit from jk and we fitted that…no change bought the front kit still no change. Throughout this it also gets jammed in which ever gear you can get it into. Could this just be we haven’t set it back up properly, was it the correct diagnosis to start with, or should I be looking elsewhere
thanks for looking , Eugene

Re: Gear selection
Have you tried bleeding the clutch/ replaced the fluid/checked movement at the slave/changed the gearbox oil.
With the new link have you put the rear linkage bracket on the correct side of the flange?
David.

Re: Gear selection
When this happened to me (in Slovenia!) it was the crank spigot bearing had collapsed.
1.9D (AEF) pop-top. Aaaaahhhhh........that's better.
Re: Gear selection
check your aluminium guides and the plastic's on the forks.
Check the spring.
JK stuff is pants and overpriced. Use BW
These boxes and controls are very simple and easy to maintain
Have you also checked the plastic cup on the rear, all the rubbers are also good?
Bushing all well well lubed?

Re: Gear selection
Looks like you're probably not a million miles from me (Oswestry). I had a similar, but maybe not so severe, problem last week which I traced (thanks to advice from Aidan) to a missing nylon tip on the front selector fork. Seemingly insignificant but it was transformed by the addition of a new one.
An easy starting point.

Your van will be back and good as gold.
They need to be kept on top of to be perfect and you are getting there
