automatic multi-stage battery charger

Post by carthago ian »

Hi all
I've had a ElecSol model ABC-1210M for some time and it recently went on fire!  I'm looking for a replacement and wonder if anyone has any tried and tested replacement recommendations?
TIA

The ElecSol is rated  at 10A which is quite a hefty current output. You just need to search for Intelligent Battery Chargers with a similar rated output and see whats available, you could opt for a model with lower output charge current which might place less thermal demand on the components.    Any idea why yours failed or what caused it to catch fire?

I assume this is a permanent fixed charger in your van? I gave up with those and bought myself a good quality charger/maintainer (Optimax 3) which I just plug into the mains socket in the van if I have EHU and I have a lighter socket o the leisure battery to plug it in to. I just use it when I need to, which is very rarely!

I am looking at 90ah x 2. 800A x 2 Bosch L5013 deep cycle. This is for my solar panels on the roof of my Carthago.  My old one had damp and I presume that's what blew it.

I have Victron Energy Bluesmart 12/10 in the Syncro.
It was fitted in 2016, and I bought the Syncro in 2019.
It maintains 3 70Ah batteries without any problem.
