Does anyone have the wiring diagram for adding the intermittent wiper relay to an early van, i have wired mine up and it all works apart from the intermittent function.

Weirdly when you use the washer the wipers work 3 times then parks but when i pull the stalk down, nothing happens.

Tried to access the drawing on wiki but i get a warning message and cannot go any further. Just want to check ive not missed something

Cheers

Are you using a later style stalk, mine doesn't move down? I'd love to get intermittent working, or even just wash/wipe!

There’s a small white plastic pin/plug in the wiper stalk that stops it moving down, remove the cowl and its on the left side, near bottom from memory. Pop it out with a small screwdriver or pick and stalk will then move down

Yes - on the early vans, a small white plastic peg or wedge is inserted into the stalk mechanism to prevent the stalk moving into the intermittent position.

Once you remove the peg, the stalk will be able to move into the extra position.

One of the first and quickest modification that I ever did on our van many moons ago.
It used to be in the wiki...
But if not now, it will be in the Bentley.

Here you go... from Bentley.

On my '87 van I just removed the white plug from the arm on the steering column and fitted the correct relay to the fusebox in the glove box. No wiring was needed as it was all there. Is '87 no an early van?

I think it depends on the fusebox. If you have blade fuses, then it is later, if you have torpedo fuses, then it is early.
I did mine today, wired up the relay under the column cowling. Worker right away, thanks for a great guide!
