Yes. It has an extended dropped plate at the front bolt fixing to give more room for the wider tyre.

I had this issue with my spare 185/80r14 tyre. Eventually I had to get a jack under the wheel holder to force it up. I wondered if the front clip had been bent at some point - the side bars looked ok and were symmetrical. Obviously, I wouldn't be doing this at the side of the road, so I'm interested if the folks here know what the issue could be. The options for wider tyres mentioned above are here:

Syncro’s have the bigger brackets so one of the salvagers may have a set. £60 a pair, new.

on Samba there were some kits with longer bolt, cylinder spacer for the bolt and a longer hook.
Just saw on FB that somebody cannot reach the seller.

I have 185 14RC on my Carats,   the spare (a Carat)  fits in the carrier with no modifiactions other than a large nut which acts as a spacer.

Cheers boys I have got it to fit with a 205 tyre on but not sure weather there is any downfalls I removed the two bars on the top of the wheel to see if it fits still had a little room to move so not fouling anything used a racket strap to hold it tight to carrier for now going to get one of them plastic things that hold the spare wheel down in newer cars
