Coolant hose info please

Post by rollercoaster »

Could do with replacing some hoses:

Image

on both my syncros they have suffered and weep at the joins.
could it be because they are (maybe) straight hoses used,
where something more specific is required?

Brickwerks suggests possibly https://www.brickwerks.co.uk/coolant-ho ... -pipe.html

or 38mm coolant hose.

two options for me, get something as a stopgap,
and find out if I need something specific.

It seems better if I put two hose clips on each end,
which kind of indicates that the hoses are stressed,
and maybe need to be shaped items.
End of the day extra clamps not a bad idea..

Not leaking at the moment but like to get it right.

Hmm! Perhaps l should have put a question mark in one of the sentences.
All l can say is it fits the coolant spigot on cylinder head.

Are they different, wbx, jx, syncro or not?
I dont have both my vans next to each other,
now away with the TriStar in westcountry,
Camper is in Wales.

At a glance though they looked the same,
the pipes down there look similar anyway.
Both are Syncros, one originally WBX the other JX.
They both have the same problems there.

But then they both have a lot of similar problems!

Neither seems to be leaking now,
but I am keen to find out whats what,
the bits need replacing for sure.

251.121.102 GENUINE Radiator hose T25 1.6TD/1.9/2.1 Syncro – VWS Car Parts (vwsonline.co.uk)

only one on the later WBX, two on the diesel

are the plastic pipes perhaps the issue, reinforcements blown and pipes cracked, the usual issue, see other thread where David links to GoWesty repair solution

The Brickwerks option recommended looks the same,
(might not be the same)
and is a lot cheaper!
