DF or DG engine
What is the difference between a DF and DG engine, I thought mine was a DG but after looking at other forums topics along with images it resembles a DF at least from appearances, any pics and advice what is the difference would be welcomed.

Re: DF or DG engine
It will be at the start of your engine number.
Assuming it is still clearly visible.
Otherwise look at your carburettor.
The DG has a Pierburg 2e3 carb, which looks quite round / circular from above.
The DF has a Solex Pict carb which is quite square to look at from above.
Otherwise look at the white sticker under the dash - it should identify the engine code and transmission code on there.
This all assumes that it is the original from the factory.
Mine say - DF engine and DT gearbox.

Re: DF or DG engine
Thanks mine is listed as DG and has the Pierburg 2e3 carb as you mentioned, but just seen a post by another member with very similar carb and fitments engine layout images as mine but listed as a DF.

As said -
Look at the front of the engine - below the breather tower, but above the dip-stick.
Here is my project DJ engine.
Look on the flat protrusion for the engine code followed by the engine number.

Re: DF or DG engine
If its got a DG carb it must have a DG inlet manifold, but it can still have DF heads .

Re: DF or DG engine
Try and get up a slight hill. If you've got a DF similar to mine it will feel like driving through treacle.
