Carburettor Problems

Hi I am a new T25 owner. Am I in the right place? I believe I have a problem with my Carburettor as I stall A LOT at junctions.

Im in Wales and my bus is my daily driver and it has to be on the road continuously. Could anyone give me some advice where I could either buy a new carburettor or somewhere I could take it, get the carburettor that I have serviced and reinstalled (preferably in a day).

I did consider servicing it myself but I think its above my pay grade. Tried watching a You Tube video of the service but the dude had five manuals on the go. That means its above my intelligence levels.

I am a F reg, 1.9 petrol, water cooled, twin sliding door model.

Many Thanks

Simon

I watched the same video I think - James Akers and Sir Adventure. :D

Maybe if you describe the issue a bit more people can advise if a carb rebuild is needed or perhaps some diagnostic stuff that you can try.

Here are a couple of pics of the carb. She just “stops running” as I get up to a junction. Then I have to either jump starter on the go, or stop. Give is a bit of accelerator pedal and turn the keys to get her going again. There isn’t any juddering. She just fades out.

Will she idle properly when up to temperature ?

Need to distinguish between simply not able to idle and stalling when decelerating.

If you want to take it some where to get it fixed, go to Bromyard vw who are the best in the business when it comes to pierburg.

You may want to send it off for reconditioning however as i doubt it would be a same day job - they do an incredibly thorough job including cold and hot start and road testing. But it comes back better then new.

Also, sorry for the multiple posts, but a simple reason for this problem may be fuel supply. If you're able to verify that the pump os delivering good, healthy squirts of fuel at temperature, that would rule in or out a relatively straightforward place to start remedial work (flow from tank, filter condition, push rod, pump/diaphram). Right this really is the last one.. if you did decide to send it to Bromyard but wanted to keep the van on the road you could try picking up a second hand 2e3 and run on that while you wait for your original to come back. Of always recondition over buying a 'new' one as the Brosols are not identical and the quality isn't, in my view, definitively proven as good as the original pierburg.

Thank you so much for the replies. Once she has had a good run she will idle. Going to work first thing in the morning is a nightmare though. Roundabouts or traffic lights are terrible first thing. After a good push down the bypass she will idle.

What's a good push down?

OK, so it will idle when hot.

When you set off to work I assume it starts and then you drive off and have problems.

What happens when you start it cold and let it idle without driving off.

If I start cold it won’t idle. It needs a good run to idle on its own. If I get a new Carb will it still need setting up or can it go straight on?

By a good push down I just meant a lot of acceleration. Sorry.
