Autosleeper bed size

I have a 1981 autosleeper with the solid pop-top sides but when I bought it there were only two padded sleeping panels for the pop-top which are both 2 ft long each.
I'm thinking there should be at least one more panel up there but not sure how big it should be.
How many panels should there be altogether, and what sizes, and therefore, what should be the full length of the sleeping area ?
And I guess following on from that, what positions should the panels be in to make it possible to raise and lower the pop-top, and lock the catches etc.
Thankyou.

Mine has a 1x 4ft and 1x 2ft. The 2ft sits ontop of the 4ft in the middle of the opening when driving. The 4ft is secured by some split dowel either side that locates into the side runner. For the bed the 4ft slides to the back with the 2ft above the sink, then it is easy to push this up ontop when you want head room to cook.
