Autosleeper pop top springs

I’m wanting to replace the springs that help lift the pop top on Jambo van .( solid fold out sides , trooper conversion ). I’ve been in touch with Autosleeper but they no longer supply them .
Any ideas as to where I might get them ? I need to do what I can to make the roof easier to lift after a recent shoulder opp.
Thanks , Daz

There's a few sellers on e-bay selling torsion springs but not sure what size you'd need. I've got the same roof and without looking i think they're quite big aren't they? I've seen some bigger one's for sale from trailer manufactures/farm suppliers .

Would you be able to fit gas struts to help lighten the load? A pair from a boot lid and some small brackets should do it.

I’ll measure them up David and maybe send some drawings to sping suppliers .
Can’t lift roof at present due to opp , maybe in a few weeks :ok
Adie , that is my other option but would be limited to where I can fit them due to the fold in solid sides. Also thought of a scissor jack with motor fitted , might be able to work something out along those lines :ok

Search ‘electric lifting jack’ on geek.com. £20 ish just take sages to get here from China. Wouldn’t trust my life on it but it might do for your job

Hi Dazco,
If its the rear spring inside the roof the one off of the t5 fits but i think i had the last one from Autosleeper a few years ago. But in my opinion its not much better than the original i had in it.

A company called Spaceroofs make an aftermarket equivalent of the Autosleeper roof which utilises external gas struts. Perhaps that could be your answer, using external struts to clear your fixed sides?

Can you not use a 12v linear actuator? Would not require any effort on your part at all.

Things like Bongos have powered rams/struts, don't know if they would be suitable.

For my solid sided pop top I'm thinking about a couple of inflatable bags left on the upstairs beds. With a cheap and nasty 12v pump they would get the thing moving the first few inches after which it becomes much easier.

Been out in the van for the weekend for the first time since the shoulder opp and managed to lift and close the roof ok. Still looking into ideas to assist the lift . Thanks for all your ideas :ok
