No, easier to adjust with it off.

Just to udpdate.

Whilst dismantling the carb, I found that the plastic part where the choke lever connects to the cam that moves the choke plate has broken. Probably why I can't change the choke plate gap!

Gower & Lee have confirmed: Sorry but this part is no longer available. It was sold in a repair kit with the choke spindle, screws & plastic choke clip.

So any suggestions on what to do next?

Finances at the moment won't stretch to a new carb, so get a used one and use the best bits from both carbs?
If Gower & Lee say the part is NLA, surely nowhere else will be able to get it?

Thanks for the suggestion, but no it isn't.
I'll get some pictures posted as soon as I've worked out to resize them.
