It is only my opinion but.... They are supposed to be straight. They will only get worse and you will be worrying about them every time you dive the van. Change them now, you know it makes sense.

What he said ^^^

Nothing worse than driving around knowing you have a time bomb ticking. I remember an old friend who lost the end of his dipstick in his DG ... the thing eventually surfaced half way round the M25 on a Sunday afternoon.

I had a vehicle years ago with a bent pushrod, this had valve clearances and it would cycle between noisy and quiet as the pushrod got stuck in one position, a good thrash often move it round and it was quite again.
What was happening was the length wasn't the same depending upon the rotation of it.
With Hydraulic tappets it may not be so noisy but it could be holding your valves open as it moves around and the tappets take time to pump up and down so I'd say it may cause valves to burn out long term.

If you can see it's bent change it.

ok so you can only tell they are not completely straight if you roll them on a piece of glass. to the naked eye they look pretty straight .

ill see if i can post up a pic

next question , were to get replacements ?

You can just see the white paper underneath
The ends of the rods are hard up against each other

The rod where youcan see light on both sides is down on diameter at that point ie (waisted) . To check for straightness take 3 at a time and simply hold together 2 at time but swapping over between the 3 to check for a curve ie light coming through. The glass won't be very flat either. Try in a electric drill just gripping the end, will give you a rough idea without more specialist tackle.

How long are they? Perhaps try them against the edge of a decent 12" rule.

Ho Ho Ho,

Sorry, I've just finished Xmas wrapping and posting..

Those push rods are plenty fine enough.

Damaged rods usually have a pronounced kink, where something valvy has happened.

Remember, new stainless exhaust valves as a minimum..

Cordialement,

:ok
