Airflow plates

Hi. I need to replace the airflow plates either side of the engine bay. What's the best way to gain better accsess to this area to tackle them. Is it a good idea to remove some of the lower outter rear corner panels especially if these are a bit crusty. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
