1.6TD head gasket

hi all,i think the head gasket and possibly head cracked on my van. can it be taken of without removing the engine?
and anyone got any tips. also is there a video showing how to set up TDC.not starting it for a couple of weeks .

The head can be removed with the engine in situ although it's obviously easier with the engine out.

I'll PM you a link later where you can download PDFs of the service manuals for the JX.

Yes, easily done in situ. You might need to rotate the injection pump clockwise, or a glow plug can foul on the pump bracket stopping it going back on over the guide pins you just made (by cutting the heads off two old head bolts and cutting a screwdriver slot in the end with a hacksaw ;-))

The Peter Russek manual is good for doing the diesel/turbo diesel head replacement.
