Hello

The wind noise from the top corner of the drivers door is horrendous when at 50mph. Its literally like sitting in a castle without windows with hurricane gales blowing past. I cant feel a draught coming in but its obviously getting through somewhere. I recently bought the caravelle extra door seal for the top of the door in the hope that would do something but it hasn't. I cant actually tell if the noise is getting through the actual door seal or the window seals. Does anyone have any experience here and how they sorted it??

I know its an old van and not very aerodynamic but with all the sound deadening I put in I was at least expecting to be able to have a conversation without having to shout. Enjoy driving it other than that...especially all the looks / smiles you get. Old skool is cool

Not sure what an extra door seal is, but just replace the entire door seal & it should be fine. It could also be the window felt guide so change that also. Check & adjust the door catch if necessary.

I think I had results with an extra seal from seals direct, which fits over the edge of the door. I’ll maybe get out to the garage tonight and get a photo. Covers the front edge down to the bottom of the window, and the top edge.

There’s also value in adding mass to the skin of the door, cuts the resonance frequency so reduces the wind rush sound from the panel. Flashband was my choice.

Sorry guys. The 'extra' door seal I was referring to is the one that goes on the lip on the edge of the door to seal the gap between the door and windscreen pillar. Still windy
Roger I have put silent coat sound deadening everywhere including inside door skins and I have the the kiravans closed cell sticky foam stuck to all the floor and over the engine deck. Its literally just wind noise I need to sort now.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but surely if a proper seal is fitted correctly to a door that is also fitted and adjusted correctly, then these additional seals, apart from looking rather naff, are also utterly unnecessary?

Reading on the T6 forum the new transporters are just the same and people are adding a second rubber to cure it! Nothing has changed in 30 years.

The first seal was fitted by vw to later models, I suppose supporting your argument that it should have been done right first time round.
The second link is for a trim that’s supposed to be there but many vans seem to be missing it, it does get brittle and doesn’t come off cleanly
