Keys coding locks

Two ignition lock cylinders, original one is more complicated. Newer one has wagers with a wider ‘hook’ or lip section on the side. See second pics.

OLD. My question is, can you giggle these newer lock barrels and their wafers to fit older keys? The key supplied with my new lock seems less complex? I’m thinking of using the old lock housing and tumblers if I can with a new ‘bottom’ section which snapped off the old cylinder.
