Is this stuff suitable for use in engine bay please? From supply at bulkhead to fuel pump.....
It doesnt look very robust compared to R6 braided. And l dont want to make a flaming fool of myself again!

As Paul says Stu, go for the Cohline offered by Brickwerks, don’t be tempted to buy from eBay (I can confirm by experience)!

Its a temp fitting. I was messing around with fuel cut off solenoid for LPG. Cut a healthy piece of pipe between bulkhead and fuel pump to fit. Got messed up and lost direction. Van wouldnt idle. Perhaps l should have fitted after fuel pump?
So bench test solenoid. Fine. But messing up carb idle. Removed cut off switch. So either join healthy pipe with plastic in line fitment (over manifold) or use one piece of D73379 with proper clips. Latter me think.

its a service iyem in my opinion
don't join it just fit new
fit quality

2.1 on pierburg with mechanical pump is same as DG 5.5mm.

2.1 in injection is 7.3mm and a short bit of large size tank to pump.

It's not a service item if you fit the Brickwerks stuff, at least according to Mr Baxter. (Inspect by all means once replaced)

I'm on the same page as him, ignore all the internet specification crap and fit quality product. Did that 4 years ago on the 412, long before I knew of BW.

Clutch, brake shoes, discs they all last along time but they are still service items
VW may not have specified fuel pipe as a service item but they did not forsee a 30 year+ life or ethynol in petrol.
Even gearbox oil was not a service item for VW but I'm sure we agree it is now.

Pretty much agreed, I think the only difference is I don't accept that fuel hose needs to be replaced every year, or two years or three years. Get the right stuff and it doesn't need to be replaced due to internal deterioration, only external damage, hence my inspect comment. (buy rubbish and it is a consumable.... consumed by the ethanol content)

BW hose is said to be good for E100 or B100

how do you inspect the inside of a hose?

2.1s are covered in pvc sleeve so hard to inspect on outside without alot of work
If I was to take my 2.1 hoses off to remove sleeve to inspect think I'd just fit new.

as said depends on quality.

You don't need to check the inside of correct hose, only the outside for physical damage, no disassembly required.

Manufacturers had to change materials used through the entire fuel system when biofuels were introduced, to a much greater extent on petrol than diesel cars. Of course Brazil has been running on (and making) ethanol cars for about 40 years, so this isn't new.

I did post the specs on the variously rated hoses once and found that some of the specs gave the max permeability of the inner using ethanol but the outer layer was not rated for ethanol at all! So any ethanol that got through that inner layer would cause the outer to deteriorate rapidly - that was my thinking at the time. It seemed to be borne out by people cutting open their externally cracked hoses and finding the inner had no cracks.
Simon put a lot of effort into sourcing the correct spec hose to cope with the ethanol and I would stick with using that having had supposedly good hose cracking on the boat engine in a few months and that is diesel!
I am using Lloyds marine grade now for my heaters as the specs for that are higher than R7.( I would use R11 if I could find a supply at the correct bore and not needing a mortgage )
