yes talked to vw heratige and they have never heard of them , it was vw heratige who suggested Intried asking about my problem here at club 80-90

it seems line boring was more common in europe so you might look over la manche

just had a look on VW catalogue and can't see them so must be aftermarket , if not made by KS maybe by Mahle?

Somebody must have made them in the past as you have a case with some in.

I think vw made them , not sure but on the number 3 bearing, I think its 3 , anyway the bearing that is split into 2 halfs it has VW Ca 025105539 Germany stamped on both halfs on the side that fits into the case.

Bearing number 2 the one that is split in 2 halves has VW Ca 025105539 Germany stamped on the casing side of the bearing on both halves so I presume they were made by vw , bearings 1,3 & 4 have no markings that I can see

number 2 bearing the one that is 2 halfs has VW Ca 025105539 Germany stamped on the casing side of the bearing , but bearings 1,3 & 4 dont seem to have any vissable markings .

I'm not getting any hits on the bearing websites for that part number 025105531C is the std /std bearing while 025105537 is the 0.25 / std bearing.

Did you have any luck measuring the bearings ?

yes I have measured the bearings and the crank the bearings measure 0.25 u.s as does the crank , but the bearings outer face that sit in the case measures 0.5 bigger than std and the case also measures 0.5 bigger than the std case size .

I was specifically referring to the number 2 bearing that had the gap, is it round or ovalled ?

Different case required I reckon. I was luck with my old case it was std/std.

I helped someone get some non std bearings for a 944 recently.

Times have changed, there was a huge price premium to be paid for non standard bearings, so it could well be cheaper overall getting another s/h case
