Camper prices......

I am looking for a camper and have read lots and been to see a few so far.

I have been advised to buy on the best bodywork and engine that i can

The vans I have looked at are all between 6.5-8k and are all late 1980s petrol models is that about right?

I am pretty green but don't want to be a mug!

I will say though, everyone I have met has been great, there are some real characters in the T25 world ! :)

Later is better, easier for certain spares and all the design revisions are worth having.
Nothing wrong with a well-looked after petrol van, but beware the too-shiny bus with fresh paint, sticky underseal or a very recent "recon" engine.
There are a lot of "scene" charlatans out there...
Always ask "why the sudden sale?"

Try to look for a van that has a lot of documented service/repair/upkeep history.
Enthusiasts historically spend more on their pride and joy.
There's nothing wrong with a fresh respray as long as you can see the before..during ..and after the process.

Caravelle (bus) based vans and conversions have better trim and rust prevention from the factory.

Petrol engines are easily converted to run on lpg (half price fuel)
The 2.1 is by far the best and most powerful factory engine.
It is extremely versatile.
