AAZ Exhaust valve snapped?

Hope someone can help advise.
My Doka which is my daily driver has been running fine apart from feeling lumpy on start up for the past week or so.
I noticed when it was running on tick over this afternoon the exhaust fumes smelt stronger. On driving home the engine started to sound more like a Aircooled flat four. Unfortunately I was on a dangerous stretch of road going up hill so had to keep going.
As I got towards the top the engine changed tone and then let go... Sounded very clattery and locked up.
It won't turn over now.
Is that likely to be an exhaust valve snapped?
What are my options?
Will it be terminal?
Unfortunately my trusty mechanic friend is out of action as he is undergoing treatment for cancer so I am flying solo!
I replaced the last engine with my freind giving me the odd pointer and then after his diagnosis I had to do the head gaskett on my own, so willing to pick up a spanner and learn on the job.
Any advise greatfully recieved.
