A few door and body related issues

Right for anyone who cares to read I just want to sound a few things out to gauge what people think to a few ideas

Having right problems with the drivers side door on my 1980 van/camper. The gaps are hideous completely wrong in every aspect all the way round.
I have read that some cut of the hinges and re weld on the door to suit. So I’m guessing the whole door can drop/sag or is it just play in the hinge?

Anyway I was thinking of welding thin plate over the a post hinge mounts and re drilling as the bottom of the door rubs on the wheel arch and the door has suffered terribly, ie creased and cracked in the usual place. So hopefully get it right to lift it up a bit

And to even up the gap on the shut line I was thinking or putting a 2.5m plate behind the top hinge and grinding off a bit of the mating face of the bottom hinge to achieve some throw.

Anyone tried anything similar in the past?

Also the sliding door needs some adjustment to close up shut lines a bit, any tips?

Cheers

Has the van ever had any front corner damage in the past, which could have put it out of line.

No I don’t think so to be honest
Nothing obvious to give it a way any

Pack a timber door out behind the hinges, theory to a van door is pretty much the same
