no interior lights from sliding door or tailgate

Hi Guys
I had no interior lights at all when I bought the Caravelle
replaced all the light units with new Hella units and new switches to all doors.
Both front doors work the lights fine but nothing from slider or tailgate.
Any pointers ?

Do you have switches in the sliding door and tailgate or are you expecting them to work from the front door switches?

Our Caravelles have them as standard. Never had to touch mine so can't offer any insight though.

Hi Guys
Yes have a switch on every door.
Got tailgate to work as the wire terminal at the Drivers rear interior lamp was broken near the connector.
Still can't get sliding door to trigger interior lamps
The brown wire is on the switch but wire disappears into loom that carries Heated rear window power just near Passenger rear interior light.
ie it doesn't seem to go to either rear interior light.
wiring diagrams I have found online seem to say switch should have a white with green tracer on it but my Caravelle is 1984 but 1985 model (F) in chassis no.
can only find USA wiring diagrams for 85 but that are injected not carb.

lights have permanent live feed which is earthed by the switches, so check that the lights have a live feed and are switched to on by switch position, they have a 3 position switch in them, on, off, door operated - then check continuity from light to the end of the switch earth cable that goes onto the switch and check the switch does earth when operated, they do get a bit poor over time

Apologies for digging up an old thread but does anyone have a good pic of the tailgate pin-switch ?
I'm retro-fitting the tailgate courtesy light and am wondering about position - I have a 'dimple' next to my lock striker plate and wonder if this is for the self-tapper or if it is where I drill the pin-switch hole ?
