Dizzy cap choice

Some years back, I switched from a pin-type dizzy cap to a standard type1/type2 dizzy cap and altered the leads to fit. My reasoning (having been in the Aircooled business for 30 years) is that they're generally easier to get, and cheaper. Not much advantage with pin fitting anyway.

Two new dizzy caps (bug/bay 68 on) ordered from GSF today - £7.50 for the pair. I rest my case. Anyone else run with the earlier bay/beetle cap?

Rev limiter ok if you're a newbie but had way too many times when I've gone to overtake and suddenly no power. Not fun. Would much rather have control of the revs than be dictated by something that isn't even accurate :D More to the point, not all the changes made by VW between the bay and the wedge were wise or even for the better. Far easier to get hold of a standard bug dizzy cap and rotor in an emergency than the later incarnation.
