A word of warning about vwcamperandclassicrepair in Warminster . Very bad experience with this company . 3 Goes at a respray with the final job comprising of scratches -runs - bubbles missed paint and starting to crack after only a month of receiving van back .4 brand new side windows fitted all of which leaked . Had to threaten with further action to get resolved . All windows scratched badly where they have been in and out so many times . No care taken when spraying , engine and exhaust covered in paint. No interest to resolve issues so will be looking at going to court . This is only a brief reason as to why you shouldn’t use this company . If you are considering using these and would like some more info before you make a decision I have plenty of photos that will change your mind . Obviously this is just my experience with them , but wanted to share in the hope that I can save people having the same bad experience I have ..

All too common I'm afraid. Way more bodgers out there than professionals which is why the good ones are booked up so far in advance. Stock a few pics up. Might be worth moving this to technical so it doesn't get pruned

You think you have done your homework and I still turns out bad . Hopefully my post will save some people the trouble I have had . I’ll move over to technical and add pictures if I can figure it out . The more that see it the better.

Agreed. I had various bad experiences with garages both none specialist and 'VW specialist' since I got my van. I'll do everything myself now. Pals of mine have some absolute horror stories regarding work done by supposed specialists. One friend nearly lost his vehicle due to a fire caused by a bodged rebuild done by a very well regarded VW superhero. I personally have been charged for work that was never actually done or overcharged for really simple stuff when I knew no better.

Thats sounds awful, 3 attempts at the respray, getting paint everywhere with scratched windows... hope that you can get it resolved

Unfortunately there a lot of cowboys out there who say they are specialists. I’ve had the misfortune of using one and now I have to deal with there mess . Not sure I’ll ever get it resolved properly but hopefully people will read this post and think twice about using them . Shame there isn’t a forum just for this kind of thing . Sure there are a lot of bad experiences people have had out there who could share and save others making the same mistake .

Had a bad experience with a garage once, not a VW specialist, none the less a proper bodge by a 'qualified' mechanic. I took the van in to have the back wheel wheel bearings done, went back three times he still hadn't got around to it, fair play he could have had a lot of work on, however i went back the fourth time and he was trying to tighten the hub nut with a plumbers wrench because he didn't have the correct 46mm socket to tighten the hub nut up.

The plumbers wrench was slipping all over the place so he then used a hammer and a screw driver to tighten it up, chewing the edges of the nut up. I was a bit peeved but let it go, i checked the hub nut a few days later and it was loose only the split pin through the castle nut holding it on, if he hadn't have put the 'reused' pin back on, or if the pin would have failed in some way the lot would have come off

I bought my own 46mm socket and tightened it up myself using a 6 foot scaffold tube for leverage and replaced the pin, its not budged in three years.

I do all my own repairs now, anything I'm not confident with i take to a garage i found with a great rep, they're a busy garage, certificates all over office wall, the workshop is spotless, everything in its place, good honest lads.
