6volt doubled up more amps?

So is this so?
You have 2 6volt batteries and wire plus to negative to create 12volt. Then you have a bigger battery pack of more amps thus better than 2 12volt? My 2 12 volts are 80amps each wired in line, thus 80amps total and it was suggested that I could get 2 6 volt 200amps meaning I have 400amps? Same size? If this is so why are you not all talking about that if it’s better? Is it better? I never really have hook up as have solar panels 150wat but heater will drain them after a few hours. Have I missed something?

Yes you have missed something
2 12 volt 80 Amp batts wired in parallel gives 12 volts at 160 amp
2 6 volt 200 amp wired in series give 12 volt at 200 amp

Simples. So if I went down this route would I need to put a regulator to charge 6v or is it all running at 12v as normal?

No if you run 2 6v in series you will be OK..

Although I should point out, two 6v batteries will probably take up more space than a truck battery. Mine is 180ah

But I’ve fitted them in the engine bay on the sides so don’t take up any space in side. Just looked at the price!!!! Maybe i will stick with what I have for now [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY] thanks though

6 volt batteries have 3 cells, 12 volt batteries have 6 cells ....using 2 x 6 volt batteries is 6 cells but in two cases...

Multicell batteries are just that....6 seperate batteries internally connected in series (6 x 2.1 volts per cell = 12.6 volts total)

I always think that no matter what battery is selected, either leisure or starter (if theres much difference in some cases) - they really need to be viable in terms of replacements or its a poor investment. That said, its better to have over-capacity than too little.

Yep, it's best to know Watt you are talking about

sorry couldn't resist

For a traditional leisure battery lower CCA is better as that denotes better toleration of deep cycle discharging, for a given Ah rating

I have 2 x 6V Trojan T105 wired up in series and they are 225AH. Also have a under passenger seat 12V leisure at 100ah, so 325ah is more than ample!
