I do agree, normally I would,
and spent 3K there in a year on my two Syncros
but its not really a wear and tear type of part,
so I thought to ask, and see what came up,
who knows maybe even the door itself too!
I have posted in Wanted.

So coming back to this very humbly,

Well I found them for something else,
and noticed they had a design service for struts,
and asked them, they are keen!
So I thought to look back at the thread,
and you had said they would do it all the time!

Anyhow I'll keep you posted.
SGS should soon be able to have a kit on offer.

First I got tired of the spring stays fouling on my locker box contents,
then annoyed that the lids didnt open as high as they could,
so I have mostly just removed the stays and bungied them open when I need to.

After a fair bit of too-ing and fro-ing of correspondence and pictures,
they have told me its unlikely they could get the doors to open much..

"Admittedly we would be unable to supply gas struts that would achieve anywhere near that degree of opening.
This is due to the panels short length in relation to its thickness and the position of the hinge.
The gas strut would have to have a stroke/travel much longer than its overall length would allow.
Maybe a 90 degree opening would be the maximum achievable at most."

I havent tried to model this and see for myself, and I may do.
Just thought to send it back to the forum anyhow..

they should be able to sort a length that will achieve more than 90' but you may have to move the pivot point inwards to get the stroke; for example I have fitted a polo tailgate gas strut to my pickup rear engine lid and I get more than stock opening from a strut that when closed is only an inch or so longer than the correct length one, it only just closes though and is a lot stronger than it needs to be. I bought it on Ebay because at the time the correct strut wasn't available from anywhere in the UK. The pickup engine hatch mounting point is on the (diesel only) battery tray several inches behind the door, so welding a bracket onto the door frame and with a suitable position of the fitting on the door itself should enable a position that achieves a bigger door opening whilst closing okay; you don't want it to open to far though as otherwise you'll dent the locker door on the dropside hinges

My belly lockers can open about 150 degrees.

Chuck some dimensions up of the DOKA lockers and I'll compare to the ones I put on the truck.

One tip - they have an adjustable damper. They come "strong", and you let gas out until you get to the point that you are happy with the upward force. In other words easy enough to close, don't take your chin off when you open them.
