MOT Tester - What can they jab!

What's the MOT tester definition of bodywork failure for MOT?

My MOT due week after next and I want to conduct a bit of a MOT pre-test. Can they jab with a screwdriver or a finger firm press. Is crispy deemed as solid?

I have a bit of flaking in places (Ie rear arch and sills), but seem solid enough by press, though not sure on on a firm jab of of pointed implement!

Depends where it is. Significant corrosion within 12" of a specified component (suspension / seat belt mount ) or that is structural is a fail. Rusty panels not unless the edges are sharp. Tank tape over the edges removes that reason for failure. I don't think the MOT testers toolkit includes a hammer these days.

Ok thanks, I have poked with other end of dustpan brush handle and it doesn't hole, though some areas flake when proding. The MOT garage I use tend to be within reason (naturally, they won't risk your life) etc.
