Oven

Possibly a crazy thought, but does anyone have an oven in their van ? If so, what make/model and how have you found it in use ?

Having removed the old absorbtion fridge (and dealing with some of the rot issues they commonly cause ! ), the space it took is available because the new fridge is a compressor and fits into the narrower cupboard next to it. A Propex Heatsource is going at the bottom, so just pondering that space above it...

i have one like this in my van and use it loads, its great for pies, pizza and stuff, basically have found it take about double the time to cook anything than what it would in your oven at home. wouldn't be without it. also good storage when not in use for pans etc when traveling

We have a Flavel Vanessa oven in ours.
Great for pizzas/pies/ready-meals etc.
As Jas says, good pan storage too, although the pans do rattle around a bit.
We love it.

Thanks; it's great to know others love ovens too ! I use mine lots at home and was wondering how I'd manage without it. Good idea too re storing pans inside it; perhaps some bubble wrap would stop the rattle.

Were there any install issues to consider eg. ventilation ? Did you self install ?

Yes, I self installed.
I lined the space with aluminium sheet to reflect the heat.
We keep a window and or the sliding door open when using the oven.
The flue wents up the back and out the front where the grill would be if we have one.

What thickness aluminium sheet did you use ?

It's pretty thin, less than 1mm for sure and has a kind of shiny rippled/speckled surface.
Best if you can stand it off from the sides of the space so it doesn't touch the walls except where the screws/spacers are.
If you google "flavel Vanessa oven manual" they show installation instructions. :ok
