Evening all. Right, just as i got up and running another problem rears it's head. To cut a long story short i'd like to pick up some ht leads tomorrow, my options are GSF/VeeWee https://www.veewee.co.uk/parts/ignition ... /926vg0040" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or Europarts https://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volk ... 52b&000198" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; in the description it says copper and sillicone...anybody used them or can recommend another place.....or should i wait for Brickwerks etc? They're the early DIN type.
Thanks David.

Hmmm, having had a trawl through fbook it looks like nothing fits properly or is crap from the above sources. I'll pop down to my local motor factors tomorrow and see if he can help. I only need the long one for now so might make my own to get me going while i wait for delivery. Unless anyone can advise differently.
David.

In 30 years I've bought many sets of ignition leads for v-dubs. The GSF ones are absolutely fine, providing they are the correct set. I always measure mine and check them carefully in the shop before leaving, checking both the ends and length. The same applies at ECP. For the few minutes spent doing so, it saves a lot of aggravation. After all, you're paying for them, so the seller won't mind if you want to check the goods before parting with your money.

On the whole, ignition leads are grossly over priced for what they are - none more so than places like Halfords. You certainly don't need anything fancy (ie silicone) on what is really an agricultural engine. Basic sets seem far more reliable and will generally last many years. You can also buy DIY kits in some places, although I've never bought/tried any.

Good news. I think ignition leads have become something of a lottery at some places, so checking them first is well advised :D That said, the quality is usually fine. I certainly wouldn't let the potential for incorrect lengths put anyone off from buying basic ones. Just check before leaving.

This was my first visit to ECP, there was a queue of people in front of me returning stuff that either didn't fit or had bits missing eg gaskets. I don't think i'd order anything on line for delivery unless i was 100% sure it would fit. I opened up the box and measured/checked the leads before leaving. There's a branch up the rd from us and they give good discount so may use them again. It was only the negative stuff on fb that made me question using them but that was mainly people ordering the wrong parts online for delivery.

I'm the same, used ECP for loads of stuff. Recently took a battery back, they found it faulty and replaced with no hassle.

It's a piece of p*ss to make up your own. Shiraz told me how to do it and where to get the components from.
