Hi guys
I'm looking at building my own carrier.
I like the look of the Burley and Rocky Mountain units, but can afford neither.
So, I'm gathering information and ideas. I could do with finding out the thickness of the plate that bolts to the van on these designs.
Can anyone help please?
Cheers
Jon

It's about 5 or 6 mm thick plate.
There is a self build on here from a few weeks ago.

I thought it might be 5mm, but it needs to pass between the boot lid and bodywork.
I'm curious what thickness the companies that make them use.

Hi chewbacca
My vans currently with Doug at his works getting the wiring sorted, should be back later this week.
I will measure it then if no one gets there first.

Chewy, the plate that fits in the rear door gap is 3~3.5mm.
The other plate which sits top and bottom of the swing away hinges is 5mm.
