After a lot of work and a fresh MOT I'll be picking up our van at the end of the month.
One of the first jobs on its return before re-fitting interior etc is to take a closer look at the side window seals which are in need of replacement. All four side ones and the two smaller ones in high top.
I know the best way to get the right seal is to take a window out and measure but ideally I only want to take the window out once and refit with new seal to keep the van watertight. Is there another way or does anyone know what is required for a 1990 hightop leisuredrive conversion?

I've had an offer of assistance if needed so I'm quite happy to have a go myself however if there are any recomendations of any window guys in the York area that could replace I may go down that route if I don't need to sell a kidney to do it.

Try seals direct they didn't have seal I wanted but they had something close.

If you are talking about Clayton right seals then to order the correct one you will need
1: thickness of glass
2: thickness of panel frame
3: web thickness of rubber required

When I did mine I temporarily taped a plastic sheet across the hole until it was delivered.

Think I may just have to pop them out to be sure because sods law will dictate the ones in the hardtop wil be different to the side ones, and then I wouldn't be that surprised if the framed sliding window is different again. Although you would like to think a conversion company may just use the same for all to keep production costs down.

Now that the van is back Ive managed to have a quick look.
Without taking out I'm not 100% sure but a bit of poking around suggests the conversion has used 4mm glass, poss 5mm - does this sound about right?
Looking at seals direct it would suggest the WR62 should be the one I'm after as I can't see the panel thickness being much more than 1.6mm.
The two in the fibreglass hardtop are definitely 4mm with the fibreglass nearer 2mm - I'm hoping its the same seal as the rest.

My hightop plastic window is 3mm and the fibreglass hightop is 2mm thick but glued to the fibreglass top is an 18mm board.i spoke to seals direct and they do an infill rubber if window is not thick enough to fill the seal.

Definitely 4mm glass in my high top mounted with std profile Claytonrite seals - just can’t quite measure in situ if same as those in side panel windows

Well I've finally got round to fitting.

The seals I ordered up are fine for the hard top but the side windows use a 5mm gap for glass, 6mm for panel and a 7mm web - much bigger than I thought.

Good nes though - so far on the windows I have removed the metal work is all good.

Seals direct have come up trumps again, ordered around 4pm and will be delivered tomorrow.

Ash, I have a leisure drive too looking at changing the window seals. What did you order for the van windows and the hi top windows? And what length did you allow for each window?

The main side windows were 5mm channel for glass, 6mm for panel (allowing for panel and carpet trim as per original) so would be WR67 from seals direct.
The top two were 4-5mm for glass and about 2mm for panel - I've manged to fit with some for a stated panel gap of 1.6mm - WR62

Typically the side ones need 2.5-2.7m each. The top ones I'd have to re-measure.

I will have plenty of spare WR62 when finished as I mistakenly thought it was the same for all the windows.

I will report back once side ones are refitted.
