Hi,
Now onto the near side b post, inner and outer sill areas.
Question is, looks like the upper runner is welded to the floor, and the inner sill.
Is this correct?
Is there a good way to replace the inner sill without removing the profiled floor edge section?

Did you use a repair panel for the outer sill?
The one I have bought has the outer sill and door roller surface.
It’s the standard panel that jk, schofield etc.
There is no back edge that would weld to the ‘floor’ of the van, looks like you have to cut the existing factory panel and weld in.. so it’s half the original panel..

The original roller surface is turned up at the back edge and spot welded along the edge. The repro roller sill panel doesn't have the vertical back edge so you need to cut below the spot welds. It would be easier if the inner main sill is removed then you would be able to get access to the back of the roller sill . I see Brickwerks are going to stock an original style inner sill.

That was the only way I could see it being done.
Inner sill is off so access is ok.
Guess it’s just a case of keeping the heights ok..!

I see you have put photos of the gruesome rust damage on the what have you done today section. Maybe you should show the work you are doing in the restoration section.

Yeah maybe. But I guess I’m not the ‘perfect’ fixer of things like this
The jobs always end up being far more involved!!
My welding and fabrication has improved no end though !!

After much fettling the outer sill/lower door runner is in place.
The aftermarket panel could have been better, the curved inner profile wasn’t correct plus the actual form of the outer sill doesn’t fit the new inner sill, more fettling ..
But it’s in.
Note to anyone doing the same job, be careful how much of the old panel you remove, after I had fitted I tried the door roller Assy in the track and it’s a snug fit due to the height of the lower track.
It’s never easy when most of the reference points you need are no longer there, thankfully the b post strengthener is in good condition to provide a reference, the drivers side had crumbled away!!
Will post some photos later..

Painted the door lower roller channel with some rustoleum blue, not that you can see it, but I know it’s there..
Inner sill painted with black rustoleum.
Aftermarket parts not the best I have to say, far too much fettling, but pretty happy with results.
Plug and seam welded just because.

Got to fabricate front chassis to sill and rest of b post etc, so not quite done yet!!
