I have a 1988 VW Autosleeper, Trident, I want to carry an awning on the roofrack. The awning weighs 25Kgs.
I cannot find anywhere what the max load you can carry on the roofrack.
Any experience would be appreciated.

It is strong, I’ve sat on a board up there. I’m 80kg.
Getting 25 kg up might be awkward though, my awning goes on the floor as a footrest. Khyam motordome sleeperis heavy.

If I remember right it's 100Kg.
I have a top box on roof bars up there with my khyam awning, wellies, a bucket, my hookup cable etc etc in it.

Thanks for the info. My van is a Hightop which has a built-in roofrack towards the rear, with a ladder bolted to the rear of the van. I've looked on the autosleeper information website but no details. I like the idea of putting the awning up there as I don't have to weather proof it. Not going to use it unless I get a weight confirmed, too late when the fibreglass cracks. A tin top like you guys with a steel roofrack is more substantial.

My auto sleeper is the same as yours & that is what I do, but I have a large plastic storage box with a lid that just fits between the rails & put the awning inside. The poles I put in front of the box & strap it all together. Not sure of the weight but it is too heavy to take up easily. I made a ladder extension to help with mine (knees have gone)
