voltmeter fitting

I'm going to fit a 52mm voltmeter as the rev counter that's in the slot has always been broken and I'd find a volt meter more useful. Is the lighter feed a good place to tap in and is a simple block connector adequate( or is there a bitter connector)

Cig lighter is always powered so voltmeter will always be on.
I wired mine to terminal G5 on the back of the fusebox (late type fuse box) so it comes on with ignition.
just don't wire it to anything that takes a lot of current as you'll get false readings due to volt drop in the thin vw wiring.
Wiring it straight to the fuse box reduces the chance of this and gives you a true reading of the voltage arriving at the fuse box, this is probably the most usefull point to measure it.
Any of the terminals marked P on the fuse box are always powered but are not fused so you might want an inline fuse if you go that route.
Hope that helps.
BBB.
P.S.- connect the negative of thevoltmeter to a bolt on the chassis, not to a ground wire. for the same reasons as above.
