AAZ Coversion To Do List
Posted: 27 Oct 2017, 06:11
I've just taken an AAZ engine out of a Golf to be transplanted into our T25.
The engine is now on a stand and I'm drawing up a to do list of jobs to do. The is so far is, in no particular order:
Good clean and degrease.
Fit new water pump.
Fit new timing belt and aux belt.
Replace Glow plugs
Check bearing shells.
Check amount of soot in the inlet from EGR.
Check Turbo play.
Check crank nut? (heard the is an issue but again not 100% what to look for?)
Re-index Turbo (still not 100% on the angle it needs to be?)
Sort out oil drain from turbo to sump.
Fit 80 degree thermostat.
Fit oil cooler sandwich plate. (location of cooler still to be finalized)
Fit new oil pump (Which one do I need?)
Work out hosing and location for an inter cooler, using an Isuzu pick up one that I've got spare.
Work out hosing and location for air filer.
I know I will have to swap parts over from the 1.6d in the van to the AAZ but I'm still running the van at the moment so they will have to wait.
I'm hoping not to have to do a full rebuild on the engine as it was running well in the Golf and should be a massive improvement on the 1.6.
What other jobs would you do while everything is easy to get to ?
Thanks
Ross
