Help!!! New oil pump binding when fitting on aaz???

The new oil pump I have from Brickwerks turns freely on the bench but when lightly tightened into the aaz block(not in vehicle yet) becomes quite tight to turn (turning it with the vacuum out). It seems the large screws are clamping the pump casing slightly against something inside casing. It still moves just not as freely with the fitting bolts out. Is this normal and will it free up with wear? Or could this be a faulty pump? It's a JP group pump BTW.
Cheers

Hard to diagnose without seeing i the flesh so to speak. Are you sure the pump drive is correctly located in drive slot before tightening bolts?
A visual check against the old pump would be the place to start measuring shaft length  etc against one another. These pumps should fit all variants of diesel as well as the TDI variants (AHU 1Z afn etc)

could it be the old seal in the block ? there's a dowel as well
use the JX bolts which should be 75mm long

Failing that workin, I think my mechanic was going to just do it up and see how it runs. Its not jamming just you can feel it rubbing more tightly at certain positions as it's rotating
