Hi

Had a near miss whilst driving in Brittany this week. Exiting a round about, the van went into a sideways slide and continued to slew up the dual carriageway until I managed to regain control. The kids thought it was hilarious but Mrs was not so impressed

I checked the van over before continuing and there were no obvious drivetrain issues. The tyres are all recent / matching, with plenty of tread and at the correct pressure. Van has had all new springs and shocks last year.

The road was damp, and I was driving cautiously (though it would seem not cautiously enough). I've had the van 3 years and use it to commute all year round in wet and icy conditions without any previous hint of oversteer.

My question is, are there any mechanical / suspension issues that I should check for?

That would be my first thought, or you have cheep Chinese rubber.

Tyres are made by Kleber - cant remember the exact size but they are the proper load rating for a commercial / van.

I did check for oil on the road / tyres. There were a few spots on the road but certainly no oil slick.

You'll often not see oil or diesel on the road, especially if it's just damp. Even the worst recent rubber shouldn't get you into that much trouble, unless your passengers were already gripping the Jesus handle as you entered the roundabout! I've slipped and fallen on an I nvisible spill just crossing the street, and I've vivid memories of racing in a town centre criterium when a drizzle started to fall.

Not your fault, or the van's.
