ive just fitted a jk sliding window to my 1980 devon , its to replace the leaking original .

the new window looks very nice and was very well packaged but , when I fitted it along with a new jk window seal it appears that the seal don't fit properly at the body corners , I decided the best course of action Is to seal all the way round body to rubber join with sikaflex .by the time I get home from work it should have well cured and will be ready for the hose pipe test , to check its integrity .

I am prepared to be disappointed and an not very happy about the poor quality of fit ,I just wondered if other peeps have had the same issues .

have had items from jk before and have been mildly disappointed , but they appear to be the only outlet for replacement sliding windows .

VW Emporium for seals. They just fit perfectly. JK copies are not even good copies.

We also learned the hard way about jk we orderd a sump plug for our van which we have only had for a month. We went on there website cheacked and double checked the plug size and van it was for and spent £10 on it obviously we are new to this and thought as they are such a big company surly they know what there talking about. Well it turns out they have no idea. As soon as we took out our old sump plug I realised the one they had sent us was no where near the same size and after more reaserch found it was a sump plug for a t4 not a t25 even though it states that on there website it fits our van. To add insult to injury we found the right plug on brickworks for £2 yes £2. Jk are an absolute joke and we will never use them again they have no love for these vans and always have cheap parts which they overcharge for. With our sort time of owning the van we can say brickworks are top notch they helped us find all the parts to replace our fuel tank and we got a discount for being a member of this club. Honestly we would not even buy a sponge from just kampers

To be fair, they're good for some things but a lot of research needed which is why Brickwerks is a good choice for many. I was in the trade for 30 years so know what I'm buying and get good rates on parts without going too far or having to use mail order. Finally, its always worth trying the company that made your vehicle. VW commercial prices sometimes work out far cheaper than many specialists, and its at least what VW fitted to start with.

I don't think its simply JK, the previous owner of my van had a replacement windscreen fitted just before I bought it back. The seal (single piece version) is very poor and it leaks into the cab floor. The gaps between seal and glass/window frame are clear to see. It will have to come out and tye rubber seal replaced, probably with the two piece version as they seem better. Nice windscreen though, blue tint across the top.

Also disappointed with VW Heritage regards poor quality parts but that is another story.

Anyone know of a windscreen fitter in Norfolk or Cambridge ...... :D

I always use a non-setting sealant. I know VW didn't and thats fine when they're new and OE seals, but they do eventually leak - as the bay and beetle do,

Lucky you didn't need to change the front & rear screen rubbers from JK.

We learn't the hard way - an experienced VW mechanic (who has fitted loads over the years) broke both our windscreen & rear screens trying to fit new JK rubbers (they simply didn't fit !!!)

Ordered new german quality seals from heritage I think it was - fitted 1st time (as opposed to about 3 hrs trying in vain to fit JK) - they did give me a partial refund for the rubbers (bought as part of the whole set for our van), but refused to accept their rubbers are rubbish - said they fitted my rubbers easily to one of their vans when I sent them back (I presume they took the shards of glass out & cleaned it properly first !!!)

This is when I found out (after spending a lot of money with JK refurbishing my van) about Brickwerks etc (and the amazing service they provide). You live & learn ;-)
