Ok. Basic question. I have been offered a 1.9passat on 04 place. It is a 1.9 turbo diesel "redeye".

Ignoring electrical issue at moment.

Does anybody know if a jx sump will fit? Is there anything else I should consider except sump and pick up pipes?

The jx turbo filled and hydrated. It is a can of work companies to doing a full swap.

T3 parts unsuitable / incompatible with an '04 1.9 TDI (PD):

sump
engine mountings
flywheel / clutch
transmission

bellhousing bolt pattern is the same but an adapter plate would be required to run it upright
inlet / exhuast / turbo / cooling system all different and would require all new plumbing / fabrication
in addition there's the EGR system and fuel cooling system to deal with
electrically its drive-by-wire & Canbus based with various dependencies between the engine ECU and other modules which would need coding out or other mods to get it running without fault codes
