Sound deadening!

Alright guys I'm looking to do a bit of sound deadening in my 25, there seems to be a lot of gear on eBay but the ratings are a bit hazey! Can anyone recommend some with a middle of the road price tag as the dyna mat is a bit too pricey for me! And possibly a like to get it, I live in the West Yorkshire area but willing to travel if need be! Cheers all!

There are cheaper alternatives to Dynamat. Roof flashing does a very similar job, at a fraction of the price. You're just reducing vibration, after all.

+1 for flashband! Cheap and easily available from your local big shed DIY store, easy to apply and cuts the panel resonance so effectively that you go from the effect of being rolled down the road in a metal dustbin, to being able to appreciate the subtleties of the various sources of wind noise!

There's also a rubber butyl flashing without tar, if it concerns you. It's also for fixing roofs. I wasn't overly, but screwfix had both and I was happy with the result. Also used some 10mm adhesive backed closed cell foam, about £13 for 10 sheets I think? Lag it up! I've only done the can doors and slider so far.easy access ;-)

I used dynamat on the ceiling panels and cab doors and flashband everywhere else. I had to use three layers of flashband to create the same effect as one layer of dynamat.
So if I was doing it again I'd just buy the proper stuff - dynamat or something similar.
Also the flashband can be a bit messy as you really need to heat it with a heatgun to get it to stick to the panels properly and the tar oozes out the sides a bit.

After dynamat, I would use xpe foam over entire areas glued on with high temp spray glue. After all of that it'll still be noisy but better than before!

Flashband is 1.6 kg/sq.m
Dynamat Xtreme is .45lb/sq.ft, or 2kg/sq.m

Flashband about £10 per sq.m
Dynamat Xtreme is about £50 per sq.m (bulk pack of 36sq.ft for £150)

How effective is Flashband? Anecdotal evidence only, but I can say that it really doesn't need heat to apply it, tho those in colder climates than mine here in the far north of Scotland may disagree.

So I guess you pays your money and makes your choice.

But if you stick it to the metal Panle's does it not encourage rust? Sorry but just think may cause more problems and f*** getting that off the metal work? Who's had it on for sometimes ???

As long as the panel is dry when you stick it on I don't see why it would encourage rust. It shouldn't trap / hold water as far as I can tell. I'll be doing sound deadening soon so would like to know if I'm wrong!

Be careful of bitumen anti drone mats, they don't like the heat.

Are anti drone mats only to be used at the 400ft max height?
