Westy Fridge - Gas Connection?
Evening,
Does anyone know the thread used on the Westy fridge gas cinnection?
I would like to remove the fridge, and blank the pipe off whilst leaving the connections in place in case I or a future owner wants to put the original fridge back in. This means getting hold of the correct blanking end piece.
Thanks
Mark

Might be way simpler to fit a quick connector on that line so you don't have to disturb the connection on back of fridge. I use these connectors extensively in mine as I like to be able to remove units as required. It also means I can have a quick connector near sliding door in case I want to cook outside with a portable stove instead. If you hunt ebay enough, you can buy two for about £6.

That's a good suggestion, thanks - I hadn't really considered that. The only issue I can see is that the quick connector looks to be for flexible hose, whereas the appliances in the Westy are all on copper hardline... I guess there must be some fittings to go from hardline to flexible available too. More investigation required.

Probably 8mm, so just get an 8mm compression stop end from a plumbers merchant. Make sure you wrap it with plenty of ptfe & test with washing up soap bubbles afterwards.

The stop end comes in two bits - the union & the stop end. The pipe in the van has a union but the pipe is flared so he'll be putting the stop end piece to the flared pipe. It may not be a great seal hence the ptfe.

Just remove the tap handle at the manifold so that it can't be turned on. No need to overthink a problem!

Re: Westy Fridge - Gas Connection?
I was actually going to suggest that but assumed I'd get a bollocking from someone for it being unsafe practice. Anyway, a £2 fitting & 5 mins work is hardly overdoing it, and it is safer.

Perfect, exactly what I needed Familiar with pipework being specified by thread - hence the question. Gas stuff is a new one to me...

I may well do that too... but attach it to the pipe with a cable tie so it doesn't get separated from the van. Belt and Braces...
Thanks chaps
