I'm thinking of putting a diesel heater in my petrol van to keep the Mrs warm.
Yes... I know... propex have their advantages and I was tempted but...
I have a choice of free fuels, heating oil, paraffin, red diesel, even JET A1.
This means I need a separate fuel tank, there are some nifty looking 10l tanks on the "portum pulices" (bay of fleas)
Has anyone fitted one of them in a T25?
The simple solution would be a portable outboard engine fuel tank under the seat but the filler neck and breather really should be outside the van, no point being warm if it stinks of diesel.
The void space on the left of the engine bay under the vent scoop/grill looks like a promising place but I'd be interested in anyone elses solutions, especially if you've actually done it.

I was wondering, if it were me, just how much of this "free" fuel I'd be expecting to get through. It strikes me as a huge amount of hassle for the sakes of a couple of bobs worth of gas or petrol!

Either way, I hope you get sorted and I'll look out for your van next June.

Just put a petrol Webasto in and save all that faffing about, consumption is minimal on the Airtop 2000s so there is little point in using alternative fuels.

Sounds like a good plan but how much do petrol ones change hands for Oldiebut goodie?
Diesel ones are common and can be picked up fairly cheaply.
Petrol ones seem less common and more in demand.
Though I am aware you do sell one or two.

That is a good point about it being a hassle however for those of us with a diesel motor and eber who may have to change fuel type in order to use our vans in an ultra low emission zone the suggestion of an auxiliary diesel tank for the existing eber is a good idea.

I use an outboard engine fuel tank as I run my van on veg oil which can't be used in heaters.
They will ban diesel heaters as well. And oil fired central heating. And.........
The problem for most people will be where to fit the tank, if internal you do get extremely slight fumes from the tank vent but the main thing is topping it up and the attendant inevitable spillages.

Removable outboard tank does make it easy to fill away from the vehicle and avoid splashes etc.
I guess you could fit an external vent pipe to a tank as from experience the vents in outboard tanks (when used in boats) tend to be a bit poor and leak due to sloshing and temperature changes.

The vent doesn't need to be big - a pin prick hole is all that is needed due to the extremely slow rate of extraction.
You can't use an outboard quick disconnect setup though - the bore is too large and the pump can't lift that column of fuel, you have to devise another means.

Thanks for the tip about not using QD, I was wary of them too as mine on the boat tend to be a bit leaky too, even new ones.
Not a problem on an open decked RIB but definitely undesirable in the van.
But if the bore is too much that rules that out anyway.

I use an outboard tank in mine but I have sealed the fuel pipe through the fuel pickup pipe and have enough length to enable the tank to be lifted out. It is easier to fill up at home though, then you can fill it slowly and much less likelihood of spillage.

Did you come up with a solution? I fitted a D2 in my van under the rock and roll bed. Thinking of converting to an agg petrol engine now so will need a fuel tank for the eber. I was thinling under slung tank like water and LPG tanks are fitted. Any reason this wont work?

I fitted a propex in the end but don't see why an underslung tank wouldn't work as long as the erber pump will lift the fuel.
Iirc there's a metering pump on the erbers but i'm not sure if it's a lift pump.
If you can find an online manual that should tell you.
I'm sure OBG will know.
