I always disconnect both batteries if I leave it connected for a few months they lose power.,my boss who has an old triumph has his set up on a trickle charge so it never goes flat .

. So will my battery lose a lot if I disconnect them and just sit there or will they be ok , do I need to keep them on a trickle charge ?

It's entirely down to the camper. If you have a number of things that draw power when the van is parked up. i.e. security alarm, tracker etc. Then they will drain. Some people just start their van after 6 months others find them dead. Leave your fridge door ajar though.
