LPG Tank Westy California- Emptying
This is quite possibly a very daft question. I'm removing all the interior out of our Westy California which is an interesting learning experience before it heads off to the body shop. I've arrived at removing the cooker and sink unit but can't remove it until I disconnect the gas pipe that appears to attach directly through the floor onto the gas tank. The pipe is preventing me from lifting the unit out. When I bought the van, the gas tank was two thirds full so i assume if i remove this pipe the gas will leak out so how is it best to empty the gas from the tank if that is indeed possible? Should I just reconnect everything up and just burn it off via the gas hob? I'm a bit stuck at the minute so any advice gratefully received!

You disconnect that pipe.
The gas tank has two shut offs which safely keep the gas inside.
Just make sure that they are closed before you disconnect.

One valve on the tank is in the closed position - the other valve you refer to, where is it on the tank, as looking at my tank I only see the main on/off valve?

The brass tap in the middle (to the right of the regulator) is one and then the orange lever (to the left of the regulator) is the other.

Yep that's the one. So, to be clear and to avoid killing myself, the valves are closed when the orange lever says 'zu' as in the photo you gave me the link to and you turn the brass dial clockwise to 'zu'?
Thanks for your help!

Correct, ZU is closed.
I have just removed my tank, it's 2/3 full and is now sitting in the corner of my workshop.

In which case may I ask one further question! The pipe that runs from the top of the tank to connect into the cooker etc is that the one and the same pipe that appears to be attached (from the photo) onto the regulator? i.e. do i need to undo the pipe at the regulator and feed it through the tank or are they two separate pipes?
Apologies for the noddy question (again!)

You can undo it at the regulator or, like I did, disconnect it at the through the floor connector.

Be aware that the 'auto ignition' make kick in if you leave the control buttons set. Best remove the 16A (white fuse) from the B post fuse holder (behind the drivers seat)
