Hello I have a standard 1981 T3 and I have been told about putting larger back wheels on for a better ride and fuel consumption, what size should I be looking at without having to do any alterations

This is somthing I'm also interested in as I need more ground clearance ,but would like all 4 the same so would like to know the largest I can get on the front aswell if possible

As in make my van lower lol ,, I'm after ground clearance and iv seen a syncro with 17s and large tires so was wondering how large can you fit on a none syncro without needing to do any modding ,, mine are currently 14s and there is loads of room but just wanted to know what others were running on there vans as this is all new to me

15" wheels and a whopping 82 8-ply tyres on mine. Love em.

Merc wheels are popular, plus once you get out of 14" tyres and onto 15" or even 16", the choice is greater and the cost tends to be lower. Gearing can work in your favour. Does for me.

Yes still very much pleased with the 215/65/16 I use, even more so with the new ej20 fitted so I'm sure the turbo whotsit you're fitting Domino they'll be fine power wise Use a tyre size calculator for overall diameter. 27" or slightly above will fit on I think on a standard ride 2wd with fresh non saggy old springs. Covkids are a bit more than 27" I think?

I have 14" VW Carat alloys which are supposed to have 205/70 fitted. I fitted standard profile (as opposed to "70" profile) and they are about 10% "taller".
I like they way they fill the arches better, plus, like CovKid, I find the higher gearing works just fine, giving me a more relaxed sounding 70mph cruise speed and a bit more MPG when cruising, plus the speedo is now spot on the mark - Note though, mine is a light-ish Tin-Top camper with a good DG fitted. If yours is a heavy Hi-Top with a 1.6 Diesel type thing, bigger tyres or wheels might not work so well.
