Hi there,
I'm attempting to turn my rear seats into a rock and roll bed, anyone done it before, any tips ?

I had a go, used an original T3 rock and roll mechanism and strengthened the bare metal frame base to factory spec. Have not finished yet but you can see about it if you go down almost to the bottom of page 1.

They're a different shape altogether, and though they can be made to fold, the standard rear seats do not make a comfortable bed at all. Ask around for a proper Caravelle folding bed. Rare and expensive, but worth it.

Again a vote for going and finding a real one. It will be heavy money but it's just not worth the effort and those aftermarket hinges are pony.

The full-width Multivan one is the best of the lot (but an inch or so narrower than the Caravelle one, so requires spacers on the hinges as per factory installation) and the cushions are dead flat so no "lumpy matress syndrome".

For now, needs must, total brain melt ! Almost done, I'll definitely be looking for one of those original folding seats.

There's a set of multi-van seats on ebay right now.

Seats on ebay were fitted in a doka and do not come with all the hardware as in hinges etc.

The Seller is Lars Neuffer (Tristar Connection). If he's not already on his way to Busfest you might get him to bring it with him...

You'll need the bed extension (but that can be made easily) and you'll need to reposition the two pins holding the back of the seat.
