Finally! Even this took hours, the RJES engine mount needed to be modified, the mounting points didn't line up.

The mount didn't line up on both sides of the van. I could mount the O/S but the N/S didn't line up, it was at least 5mm out and the bolts would not go through.

I did try that but it just wouldn't go in, I only enlarged the holes slightly with a dremel and it went in easily.

Time to "Subaruin" EJ20 or EJ25 in a Westy?

More progress this weekend, all I have to do now is fit the loom, accelerator cable, and double check I've got the water pipes connected correctly.

Few pics if the Rocky Mountain Westy exhaust and heat shield, the silencer is off the Subaru, it's a bodge but I want to check the van runs and
I'm happy before I get a new stainless one sorted.

I must admit that I'm not 100% impressed with RMW kit, the system is supposed to slip together and be held with clamps. The bend with the O2 sensor boss didn't fit, I had to borrow an old exhaust flaring tool from my mechanic to get it to fit. And 2 of the standoffs for the heat shield snapped off in the block with very little torque applied.

Considering how much it all cost me I'm surprised that the standoffs were not hardened.

The heat shield is interesting. To protect the plastic cam belt covers I guess?

It's a good idea, pity the standoffs snapped.

I must be breaking the record for the most amount of time to do the Subaru swap, but it's running. :D

Only a few things left to sort out. I tried to tap the engine warning light into the OXS circuit but it's not working and the rev counter mod needs to be done.

Happy days.

I've had the legacy since the end of April so it's taken a lot longer than I expected.

Starting to lose patience with this swap now.

Yesterday evening I ran the van with the driveshafts off and went through the gears, the shift wasn't great and and I knew it would have to be adjusted.
This morning I connected the driveshafts but couldn't get the van into any gear with the engine running. I've disconnected the shift mechanism and found that the relay lever is loose and I can't select gears by hand, the gearbox is an ABD 4sp that I bought from Elvis which Aidan had rebuilt. Am I doing something stupid or is it time for a trip to Wales to let Aidan take a look?

Ooh, that's not quite right is it? What has Elvis said about it? If it weren't for the tranny issue, you'd be rolling by now wouldn't you? Fingers crossed it doesn't turn out to be a pig in a poke.
Why would the glass be anything other than half full?
